The firm’s philosophy is to continually strive for excellence
in the work performed and to always remember that public accounting is a personal service profession. Through this philosophy the firm has built a continuing and successful practice, with some of our clients dating back to when Flanagan started the firm.

about us

In 1977 Owen Flanagan formed a sole proprietorship after 24 years of services within other accounting firms. He opened his office at 60 East 42nd Street in New York City, where the current practice remains. Between 1980 and 1982, Flanagan expanded the firm and hired Donald Scherer, Kevin Sunkel and John Corcoran. These four accountants formed the present firm of Owen J. Flanagan & Company in 1988. Owen Flanagan retired on January 1, 1995 leaving the practice to continue under Kevin Sunkel, John Corcoran and Donald Scherer and on January 1, 2009, the firm admitted Meredith A.F. Korn as a partner.

Unlike many small firms of its size, Owen J. Flanagan & Company is unique in that its primary service is auditing and accounting.

The firm serves both tax exempt organizations, including private foundations and public charities, as well as for-profit businesses providing audit, accounting and taxation services. The firm also provides quality tax services to high wealth individuals, estates and trusts.
